Our Hygienists provide regular hygiene care for all patients. For those with periodontal problems deeper scaling with Local anaesthetic is offered if required. As part of these appointments you will receive advice on oral hygiene including tooth-brushing techniques. Children will also have their teeth disclosed using food dye tablets, which show the areas they are not brushing correctly.

Dietary Analysis

Diet sheets are provided to help us analyse your dietary habits, we will look at dietary factors affecting your decay rate and tooth wear.

Dietary advice leaflets produced by one of our team members are provided so you can assess the sugar content of different foods.

Being aware of dietary factors can improve your oral health considerably, decreasing your decay rate and tooth sensitivity.

Oral Hygiene

A range of products are available to purchase at the practice including electric toothbrushes, prescription-strength fluoride toothpastes and antimicrobial mouthwashes. We will advise you as part of your Oral Heath Care which products are appropriate for you as part of your daily routine.

Non-Drilling Techniques

Air abrasion is a technique using fine alumina dust particles to gently remove tooth tissue. There is no water or vibration and is kinder to enamel not causing cracks or crazing. This technique can be employed for repairing broken teeth and those requiring small fillings- in many cases local anaesthetic is not required.

Children

We have great experience working with Children, especially those who need more than routine check ups or those who have had bad dental experiences. We can work with these children to improve their confidence and dental experience. We work closely with them and their parents to improve oral health through regular hygiene visits and oral hygiene guidance and dietary analysis and advice. We do not use amalgam filling material, containing mercury, in children’s teeth.
